Niod: Non-Acid Acid Precursor 15% Review

April 20, 2018

You probably guessed makeup is my thing, I love makeup and being a MUA isn’t a job, it’s a passion. But my real obsession in life is skincare. I admit, I can and will spend hours researching new skincare brands, their products, and the innovative (sometimes BS) science behind them. I dread to think how much money I have spent experimenting with them over the years!

Don’t get me wrong, I'm not obsessed with looking younger, that's just silly. My goals are more realistic - healthy, radiant, hydrated skin.

My main goal right now it's to get rid of those pesky red/pink marks left behind from past spots and Rosacea. Is it just me or are they worse than the spots themselves? Ugh! They take forever to disappear so I have been on the hunt for a product that might help diminish them, or at least fade them slightly, and I think I might have found it..

What is it?

Niod’s Non-Acid Acid Precursor 15% or NAAP is an acid-free epidermal exfoliator - a safe alternative to acid-based treatments such as AHAs, BHAs and retinoids.

What does it do?

NAAP effectively resurfaces the outer skin layer to reveal healthy looking skin underneath and a stunning complexion. Instead of using direct acids like AHA and BHA, it uses ‘friendly’ bacteria, peptides and amino isolates to gently exfoliate without causing redness or inflammation.

Why did I choose to use NAAP instead of direct acids, such as AHA/BHA?

Acid-based epidermal resurfacing treatments like AHAs and BHAs come with one major drawback – inflammation, which in the long term, is one of the biggest causes of skin ageing. NAAP on the other hand is different; it contains bio-ferment oligopeptide to gently exfoliate and marine-derived sugars to increase skin's ability to retain water, so that a gorgeous, smooth complexion can be achieved overtime, without any of the nasty side effects.

Does it work?

It’s working! But it’s not a miracle worker; my face is still covered in post acne marks BUT after two months of use they have got a bit lighter! Even the few, special, people who get to see me without makeup (lucky them) have pointed out to me ‘how much better’ my skin looks. So that's nice! NIOD is all about playing the long game because its safer and better for your skin in the long run; and thats OK with me.

As directed, I apply a few drops at bedtime to the face avoiding the immediate eye areas and I always make sure I wear SPF 30 during the day. I’m pleased to say I haven’t experienced any sensitivity using this product, nor has it broke me out. Just looking at a skin resurfacing product is enough to make me turn red and blotchy, so the fact I can use NAAP every night without fuss is pretty amazing! All I have to show from using it is baby soft, (slightly) clearer, brighter skin!

In a nutshell...

NAAP does exactly what it says on the tin; it gently encourages skin cell turnover and it tackles uneven skin texture and dullness, in a non irritating, and non sensitising way. I can’t live without this product now and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to achieve glowing, baby smooth skin.

What products you have tried to lighten post acne scars/marks? And have you had much success? Let me know, I’d love to hear your tips and experiences!
